I'm Dreaming of a Write Christmas

Reading time ~5 minutes

Hello All,

It’s December, which means I am in full-blown Christmas mode. This week’s post is a fun writers tag I created for the holiday season! This one will be mostly about my book, helping you guys to know the characters better :)

For anyone else who wants to do the tag, here are the rules:

  • Start with a brief book description
  • Don’t use one character more than twice (Ok 3 times if you need to, but you lose 2 candy cane points and a gumdrop button.)
  • Tag your fellow writers!
  • Tag me so I can read/watch your answers :D

Brief book description:

Guardians of Enlightenment is a NA fiction novel. Alex Chambers, a new university grad, finds her life in complete chaos when Seth, her cousin and best friend, goes missing. She can’t shake the feeling that something is seriously wrong. Her premonitions prove true when she discovers that Seth is involved in a family secret that is soon to come knocking on her door. This book is filled with action, adventure, and some romance too.

  1. Which two characters are caught under the mistletoe in an unexpected kiss that is humorous, but somehow still works?
(Let’s just go ahead and assume all the characters involved are not dating/married to anyone else.) Rose and Damian are my picks. Not only is there a class divide that you would think Damian couldn’t ignore, he also calls Rose the wrong name on multiple occasions. But, plot twist, that was just to try and hide the burning desire he harbours for her. Am I allowed to write fanfiction about my own book?
  2. Who deserves coal in their stocking this year?
Based on Book one, Erik. For sure. You know what you did. Jerk. #NotOverIt
  3. Who forgets to buy a gift for someone, steals the card off a gift, then replaces it with their own?
Hahaha, I just love this visual. Hmm, let’s see. Marcy. She was too busy in the weight room to go shopping, so she’s giving her secret santa recipient whatever’s wrapped up in that nice red box with the big green bow.
  4. Who regifts something given to them the year before?
Andrea. She would perhaps do it as a purposeful joke, or at least play it off that way when she gets caught.
  5. Which character hand knit sweaters for everyone?
Hahaha, Rose. She’s the maternal one of the bunch. Although she’s also fashionable, so she’s not letting anyone leave the house in them. At least she will know they are warm in their rooms.
  6. Who totally blew the budget and went overboard with gifts?
Alex. She freaking loves Christmas. She would spare NO expense to get the perfect gift for everyone on her list.
  7. Which character drinks a bit too much spiked eggnog at the Christmas party and spills a scandalous secret? Bonus: What secret do they spill?
There are so many characters I want to see doing this. Let’s go with Derrick. He gets drunk and shows everyone videos of himself in a leotard doing routines from his gymnastic days.
  8. Author question #1: What are your new year’s writing goals?
I am not a new year’s resolution kind of girl, but I am a lover of goals! I have several, but I would say the main ones are:
    • Keep up with blog posts
    • Choose a cover artist for my book
    • Nail down an editor for my book
    • Most importantly: Not throwing up from nerves during the process!
  9. Author question #2: What book/books are you hoping to read this holiday season?
Turtles All the Way Down By John Green. I am also sure some Harry Potter re-reads will find their way onto my e-reader. The second Heist Society book and the first Embassy Row book by Ally Carter are also on my Christmas wish list. I will have to do some book reviews in the new year :) Also I am also looking forward to reading The Savior’s Champion by Jenna Moreci when it comes out. I was able to read a sneak peek recently… It looks amazing! One of my goals for the new year is to read more self-published authors, so if you know of any good self published books, send the titles my way!
  10. Author question #3: Who are you tagging to do this challenge?
    I am tagging some wonderful writers with WIP (works in progress) I’m pumped about: @ab2fsycho @EKsShadows @ScarlettOlivier @LadyWulff @Sachula @RyanMedina @NancyLumair and @Jennamoreci
